Audience recation
The percieved way that the message is sent
The message is encoded into the medium
The message is decoded from the medium

Halls encoding theory - Message s are not just sent directly from the sneder (producer) to the reciever (audience) but are ecoded into a medium (media texts) and then decoded by the audience interpretation as well as as the methoud of encoding can affect the meaning of the message

Halls recpetion theory - Audience recieve and understand the meida in different ways based on their backgrounds and beliefs; their decoding of the text is effectd by their prexisting biases and belieefs that alter how they understand the text. The text can be read in three ways:
Dominant Reading - the intented reading of the producer:the way the media is meant to be read and the way that most peoplewill recieve the texts
Oppositionalk reading -the audience understand the intended meaning but reject this meaning and instead take a contradictory or contrasting reading of the text
Negotiated reading the audience understand the intended meaning but instead read the text somewhere between the intended and opppositional readings; this often means rejecting parts and accepting other parts
